compelling pop for your heart by a singer/songwriter with an enchantingly quirky soprano voice
For fans of Ingrid Michaelson, Feist, Lucy Schwartz, A Fine Frenzy, Lily Allen, Sam Phillips, Fiona Apple
Aoede (pronounced A-E-D), WomensRadio.com’s recipient of a “Top Album of the Decade” honor, and “Top Artist of the Year” for 2008, is a driven singer/songwriter who’s one-in-a-million, but it’s not
... [More] only for the reasons one would expect.
What's up with this unpronounceable name??
Once upon a time, way back in Greek mythology, there was a muse named Aoede. She was the first "muse of song" way before the 9 celebrated muses we know and love. And I, Lisa Sniderman, singer-songwriter for Aoede, chose this name both to inspire you and to remember to continually be inspired, awake... When you listen to my songs, called “magic-making,” by SanFrancsicoVoice.com, expect compelling, emotionally evocative, intelligent, musical stories of love, loss, life, and longing-songs that take you, shake you and wake you.
If you like Ingrid Michaelson, Aimee Mann, Sam Phillips, Fiona Apple, Lucy Schwartz, Lily Allen, I hope you resonate with my musical vignettes, sung in my enchantingly quirky soprano voice.
I formed an indie San Francisco-based *pop rock* band in 2005 featuring, yours truly, Lisa Sniderman, David Sands (bass), and John Walden (drums). Released and promoted a cool little album entitled "Push and Pull" in 2008. I am also a co-founder of WomenROCK (http://womenrocksf.wordpress.com), a Bay Area-based women-in-music advocacy group, as well as a driven environmentalist with a passion for Blue Gold (water!).
I also suffer from Dermatomyositis-a rare connective-tissue disease... my healing process is creating new music. Music is my lifeline. I just cannot stop creating.
Any recent accomplishments?
Why yes!
Aoede was just announced 5/23/11 as one of two WINNERS for a music contest to pitch an original song to a brand! Aoede pitched Love Proof to Apple and WON the popular vote!
I just released Aoede's Affair with the Muse! This release reflects a new artistic direction for Aoede, and there's a little something for everyone (reflective, eclectic, nostalgic, disney-esque, anthemic, heart string puller). Also just released NEW music videos for "Love Proof" and for "I Lost, You Win!" In addition, Just launched a newly redesigned interactive and dynamic website, www.aoedemuse.com, where you can listen to and purchase songs and delve into my complete body of work as well as interact with me.
Aoede's songs from Push and Pull (2008) have just been included in Sonicboom's online music game, Rhythm Zone! They will be featured prominently along with songs by iconic artists including, The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, and The Rolling Stones.
A great deal of Push and Pull‘s success was attributed to the single, “I Lost You Win.” In August 2010, the single charted at #11 on the International Association of Independent Recording Artists (IAIRA) International Top 15 due to its wide acceptance and fan following established through worldwide play on American Airlines in-flight programming, international broadcast and streaming radio, such as Pandora, and distribution on countless indie songwriter compilation CDs, and Podcasts.
Aoede was crowned Womens Radio's Artist of the Year 2008, and Push and Pull-Aoede's 2008 release-was included in Womens Radio's Top Albums of the Decade.

Full of fun, poppy hooks and gorgeous underscored production that only aids in making these engaging lovelorn themes all the more enticing; Aoede’s easy-to-love pop will forever find a home on your headphones." (Jason Gladu, Stage Door Music Reviews)
".....as I find myself being whisked away by the sounds of Aoede I need a copy of Push and Pull in the house, in the vehicle, in the studio and in my head all the time.
