After 10 years of cowabungas, shoot-the-curls, beach bopping, and fun-in-the- sun, Sonic Surf City took a break and their frontman Woodie Hermanson (also Ceilidh Productions and Trampolene Records) moved to San Diego, California, to purse his career as a scientist.
Meanwhile, the bikinisurftrashpop tunes from the band took a life of their own, and during the last 10 years, compilations have been released in Europe and Asia with an unexpected success, songs have been covered by bands from Spain, Indonesia to Japan, their old vinyl records are selling for ridiculous amounts on web auctions, and a completely new surfasonic fanbase has emerged, especially in Europe and Japan.
During 2009-10, the band, Woodie Hermanson, Hot Rod Anderson, Tee-Tee Thomsen and the new guitarist Sweet Cheeks Söderhielm, got together again, Woodie Hermanson wrote a bunch of new songs, and they found themselves at home at Papa Bear's Killer Cobra Records.
The new album POROROCA! was recorded by Peter "PP" Samuelsson at PPP Recordings the fabulous summer of 2010 and contains 15 brand new (put in your favorite surf adjectives here) songs. Starting out in the beginning of November with a tour in Germany, Switzerland, and Holland to be continued with a magnificent release luau in Stockholm at Kafe Kompott November 27:th, these surfers have already begun enjoying the summer of 2011.
